Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support students with special educational needs in a secondary school setting.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools and possess a strong understanding of trauma-informed practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them stay engaged and motivated in their learning environment.
  • Utilize your experience in PRU settings to effectively manage and respond to challenging behaviours.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioural issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
