We are looking for a highly skilled Cost Estimator for Electrical Projects to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately estimating the cost of mechanical and electrical projects, preparing detailed proposals, and collaborating with the project management and sales team to ensure successful project delivery.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar role within the electrical contracting industry.

As a Cost Estimator for Electrical Projects, you will be responsible for:

  • Analysing project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
  • Evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that everything required to successfully bid and win the project is understood and clearly communicated.
  • Identifying potential risks and opportunities associated with the project and developing strategies to address them.
  • Preparing and submitting comprehensive and competitive tender packages, ensuring all inclusions and exclusions are clearly detailed.
  • Collaborating with suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Conducting site visits and meetings with clients to discuss project requirements and scope.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Reviewing and comparing sub-contractor and supplier quotes, negotiating where necessary to secure the best possible terms.
  • Supporting project and sales managers and the wider team in delivering successful projects on time and within budget.
  • Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Participating in post-tender negotiations and handover meetings.
  • Continuously monitoring the progress of projects to ensure alignment with initial estimates and adjusting forecasts as necessary.

The estimated salary for this position is £49,000-£59,000 per annum.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5 years+ experience as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar role within the electrical contracting industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and project management principles.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Professional qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIBSE) is advantageous.
