Job Title: Salaried General Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Salaried General Practitioner to join our team in the Primary Care Network (PCN). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports, and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Triage patients presenting to the surgery by telephone, online, and in person.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health and promoting healthy lifestyle strategies and education.
  • Manage long-term conditions and patients with complex problems.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
  • Delivering enhanced services.
  • Check, manage & process patient test results.
  • Refer patients to secondary care and/or relevant organisations and internally within the PCN (e.g., to additional roles members of the PCN team) as required.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible) in line with local and national guidelines.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant Practice policies/guidelines, e.g., prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • A commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Contributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisation.
  • Contributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient data.
  • Attending training and events organised by the Practice or other agencies, where appropriate and suitable and relevant for your role.
  • Keep up to date with current evidenced-based approaches to patient care and service delivery, in line with NICE and national frameworks.
  • Contribute to education and training of trainee members of staff and students.
  • Attending and contributing to practice and PCN meetings.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and forward-thinking Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) and will have opportunities to attend team meetings and access peer support across the PCN. The role is initially offered on a fixed-term contract basis until 31/03/2025; however, this may be extended and will be reviewed ahead of the end date.
