We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team at The Kleinwort Centre Intermediate Care Service.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate individual to take on a leadership role and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

The Kleinwort Centre is a 23-bedded stand-alone intermediate care unit, providing a supportive and collaborative environment for patients and staff alike.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Ward Manager with staff management, incident management, patient flow, and roster management.

They will also provide clinical expertise and visible leadership, helping to create a positive patient experience.

We welcome applications from experienced Band 6 nurses or Band 5 nurses seeking development opportunities.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care with multidisciplinary team colleagues.
  • Empowering patients to work as partners in their care, respecting individual choice and difference, and encouraging self-care where able.
  • Identifying significant changes in patients' physical, psychological, and social status, acting on findings, seeking guidance, and/or reporting to the appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team and the ward manager.
Requirements

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • An adult registered nurse qualification and current NMC registration.
  • Evidence of a range of clinical competencies.
  • Evidence of post-registration development.
Experience

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Years of experience at staff nurse level.
  • Relevant experience in an acute trust setting.
  • Experience in complex discharge planning and transfers of care.
  • Recent experience in an in-patient rehabilitation/elderly care setting.
Skills and Knowledge

The successful candidate will need to have:

  • Able to demonstrate the application of research-based practice.
  • Knowledge of current local policies informing community health and social care services.
  • Able to promote independence and choice in undertaking patient care.
  • IT literate.
  • Clear knowledge of clinical governance, professional codes of conduct, and Trust policies.
  • Clinical Supervision skills.
  • Advanced communication and negotiation skills.

The successful candidate will need to be able to:

  • Demonstrate ability to reflect and learn from situations with a commitment to professional learning and development.
  • Clear examples of co-operative team working.
  • Identify difficulties as challenges and work with others to identify solutions.
  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of self and be able to identify personal limitations and show openness to addressing them.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Salary: £37,338 to £44,962 per annum/pro rata.
