Primary SEND Support Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Primary SEND Support Assistant to join our team in a Harrow Primary School. As a Primary SEND Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to children with SEND, tailored to their specific needs and goals.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with the delivery of lessons and activities, ensuring that children with SEND are fully engaged and included.
  • Monitor and record the progress of children with SEND, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Psychology or a related field from a Top-20 UK University.
  • Experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a Primary School setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A patient, calm, and practical approach, with a commitment to providing high-quality support to children with SEND.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of the school and its pupils.
