About the Role

Cameo Consultancy is seeking an experienced Homeware Buyer Assistant to join our team. As Assistant Buyer, you will play a key role in supporting the Senior Homeware Buyer in sourcing and managing a range of homeware products for our catalogues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Homeware Buyer in sourcing a range of homeware products, working to margin and quality targets.
  • Manage a range of approximately 250 SKUs per season, with around 50% repeat lines.
  • Sourcing your own products within domestic textiles, tabletop, and toiletries.
  • Liaise with suppliers, managing relationships and communication to optimize efficient ordering and sample management.
  • Negotiate cost price and terms with suppliers, commercial price points.
  • Manage the busy process, ensuring all lines are ready for launch and critical path is met.
  • Maintain and develop in-depth current knowledge of trends, competitor activities, and retail prices.
  • Log all product information accurately.
  • Organize samples for selection, range reviews, and photo shoots.
  • Write accurate content for catalogues and websites.
  • Resolve any customer or warehouse quality queries.
  • Manage liaison with warehouse to ensure efficiency and quality.
Requirements
  • Buyer experience from within the homeware or gifting market.
  • Ability to understand sales analysis.
  • Commercial experience of product development as well as sourcing of shelf products.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Excellent planning and project coordination skills.
  • Organized, used to working to deadlines.
  • Confident communicator.
  • Work well under pressure and able to multitask.
  • Adaptable in a changing environment.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel.
  • Able to work on your own initiative.
  • Own transport essential, due to remote location.
