Heavy Goods Vehicle Technician

Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and preventative maintenance, diagnostic fault finding, and reactive repairs to customer fleets, HGVs, trailers, and GSE equipment.
- Ensure customer fleets are safe, legal, and fit for duties at all times, performing maintenance inspections of heavy vehicles.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to the highest standard, ensuring all vehicles are safe and legal and fit for duties.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT to ensure minimum number of failures.
- Service and maintain vehicles to the highest standard, ensuring they operate safely and comply with legislation.
- Maintain GSE, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical repairs.
- Ensure vehicles are road tested prior to confirming completion wherever possible.
- Refit wheels correctly and torque wheel nuts using calibrated torque wrenches.
- Ensure the company complies with ISO14001/9001 accreditation, IRTE, and FTA by maintaining the best possible standard of work.
- Complete job cards, maintenance records, and associated paperwork with good work practice.
- Knowledge of automotive equipment and testing/troubleshooting equipment.
- Ability to lift and manoeuvre heavy vehicle components.
- Demonstrated ability to make decisions and work on own initiative.
- Knowledge of PSV/HGV maintenance.
- Electrical circuits and systems knowledge.
- Knowledge of engineering procedures and Health & Safety legislation.
- Inspection of vehicles for scheduled maintenance.
- Experience on GSE is beneficial.
- Experience on Mechanical, Electrical, and Hydraulics is required.
- Clean DBS.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- 5 years worth of work references.
