Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director to join our Defence team, working on high-profile infrastructure projects in the Southwest. This exciting opportunity will involve leading teams of cost control professionals, driving continuous improvement in cost control processes, and implementing new technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading Teams: Manage and lead teams of cost control professionals on complex projects or programmes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in cost control processes to create efficiency and increasing benefits to our clients.
  • Process Implementation: Implement, embed, and roll-out identified changes to cost control processes.
  • Cost System Management: Select, implement, administer, and maintain cost control systems and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Lead the team in producing accruals to ensure accurate reflection of actual costs in a timely manner, generate cost reports on a regular basis, including evaluation of earned value.
  • Forecasting: Define how to build and assure project forecast to account for all residual works in the Estimate to Complete (ETC) and develop the Estimate at Completion (EAC) incorporating required supply chain information.
  • Project Reporting: Manage and lead the production of cost reports to a defined reporting cycle.
  • Cost Information: Provide cost information and subject matter advice to the project team to develop status reports, keep management informed on project progress, and support performance management decision making.
  • Performance Recovery: Present performance recovery recommendations to relevant stakeholders and senior management to support effective decision making.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Experience in Cost Control on complex projects/programmes is essential.
  • Skills: Practical experience of different cost performance reporting and cost forecasting techniques is essential.
  • Earned Value Management: Practical experience of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress reporting, forecasting, and performance reporting and analysis is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Practical experience of using MS Excel and other MS applications.
  • Leadership: Experience of leading teams is essential.
  • Cost Control Tools: Familiarity with various Cost Control tools.
  • Interdisciplinary Knowledge: An understanding of how other aspects of Project Controls (Scheduling, Cost Control, Change Control) interact with Cost Engineering is essential.
  • Risk Management: Experience of interfacing risk with other Project Controls disciplines is essential.

Salary: The salary for this role is estimated to be around £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
