Job Overview
Data Center Shift Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of data center facilities. This position is responsible for managing work tasks for planned and reactive maintenance, collaborating with Engineering Supervisor and Shift Leader to ensure all maintenance adheres to site policies, health and safety legislative requirements, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee routine maintenance of building plant, equipment, and systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Respond promptly to Building Management System alarms and perform emergency repairs, minimizing downtime and maintaining data integrity.
  • Create and utilize required switching schedules, SOPs, and EOPs to streamline maintenance processes and improve overall facility management.
  • Maintain Evaporative Cooling Systems and domestic water systems to comply with L8 standards, ensuring a safe working environment for personnel and protecting against potential risks.
  • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all in-house tasks, promoting a proactive approach to risk management and compliance.
  • Supervise engineering subcontractors to ensure contractual commitments and site operating processes are met, fostering strong relationships and delivering high-quality results.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment by complying with company and client site policies and procedures, upholding PRS Recruitment Services' commitment to workplace safety.
  • Verify that work packs include required documentation, including subcontractor RAMS review, to guarantee accuracy and completeness.
  • Responsible for training and personal development updates, supporting the professional growth and well-being of team members.


Requirements and Qualifications
  • Manual Handling Training (advantageous) for safe handling and transportation of equipment and materials.
  • HV Authorisation to operate high-voltage systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Current Wiring Regulations certificate, demonstrating expertise in electrical systems and installation.
  • Level 3 NVQ in an associated discipline, providing a solid foundation for technical knowledge and skills.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work Qualification to respond effectively in medical emergencies.
  • Experience in real-time incident/fault management in a business-critical environment, showcasing problem-solving skills and adaptability.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, highlighting transferable skills and competencies.
  • Strong understanding and experience in health and safety obligations for maintenance activities, prioritizing employee safety and well-being.
  • Good verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Numerate and literate to accurately document and record information.
  • Diligence in safe working practices to prevent accidents and maintain a secure environment.
  • Self-motivated with high personal integrity, leading by example and promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Ability to work well both in a team and independently, adapting to changing priorities and demands.
  • Flexibility regarding working hours to accommodate shifting schedules and deadlines.
  • PASMA & IPAF (preferred), enhancing skills in scaffolding and powered access equipment operations.
  • Knowledge of multiple interlinked systems (Fire, PMS, BMS) to integrate and coordinate facility operations efficiently.
  • Takes ownership and accountability for work assignments, striving for excellence and continuous improvement.
