Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacist to join our dynamic team in the Adult Critical Care Unit as a Highly Specialist Pharmacist.

This exciting role offers the opportunity to contribute to the running of our clinical pharmacy service, including writing guidelines, line management, providing training, overseeing audits, and supporting governance and finance reports.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert pharmaceutical advice on complex clinical cases and contributing to the overall strategic development of the pharmacy service.

Main Duties:

  • Contribute to the delivery of patient-focused quality care based primarily at the Royal London Hospital.
  • Promote the responsible, safe, and cost-effective prescribing of medicines within Critical Care to optimise clinical outcomes, minimise adverse reactions, and improve medicines safety.
  • Support the Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Critical Care in leading a team of staff in the delivery of a high-quality clinical, professional pharmacy service to the specialty.

Person Specification:

  • Significant experience of working as a registered clinical pharmacy practitioner in an acute hospital NHS setting.
  • Previous experience of providing a clinical pharmacy service to critical care at Band 7 level or equivalent.
  • Appropriate experience in providing a hospital-based pharmacy service to a Critical Care or high dependency unit (Level 2 & Level 3).
  • Evidence of basic teaching and tutoring in a hospital setting through training others e.g. pre-registration / basic grade pharmacists.
