As a Field Service Engineer with a focus on Switchgear, you will play a key role in integrating the Customer Engineer – Switchgear Services offering from E&I into the wider Vertiv service business. To meet the demands of customers for installation and servicing of this offering, we are seeking experienced professionals to provide consistent quality and support to customers across the region.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of project site works: Installation, commission, test, and handover of LV switchgear panels across multiple projects.
  • Investigation of site issues: Breakdowns with a view to carrying out repairs as necessary.
  • Preventative maintenance: Completion of tasks for all aspects of LV switchgear panels.
  • Site preparation: Preparation of tools, test equipment, and site documentation for project/maintenance activities.
  • Communication: Interface with clients, sub-contractors, and various internal E+I departments to ensure timely progress and meet project/contract milestones.
  • Procurement: Liaise with department internal procurement for any additional material requirements/manufacturing needs to close out snag lists.
  • Site paperwork: Management of site-related paperwork, ensuring documentation is signed off by all relevant parties and uploaded to client portals in a timely manner.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Responsibility for safe working practices on-site and ensuring all relevant HSE procedures are adhered to.
  • Security Clearance: Be willing to undertake varying levels of security clearance and criminal record checking for customer sites with enhanced security procedures.
  • Travel and On-Call: Attend customer sites across a defined geographical area and fully participate in an on-call rota as defined locally.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

Essential:

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in a site/client-facing role.
  • Recognised qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with dealing with clients/customers in a professional manner.
  • Good understanding of safe isolation and electrical safety.
  • Familiar with maintaining accurate and detailed completion of test documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fully flexible to work additional hours on request.
  • This is a site-based role with the majority of work time spent on-site or travelling.
  • Full driving license.

Desirable:

  • Electrical Engineering background.
  • Knowledge of PC software.
  • Working knowledge of electrical drawings/control systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting.
  • Time served or equivalent.
  • Electrical trade background would be advantageous.
  • Experience in working within an electrical service environment.
  • Familiar with all aspects of electrical panel testing and fault finding.
  • Competency in primary and secondary injection testing.
  • Competency in flash testing.
  • Good working knowledge of LV switchgear and protection devices.
  • Experience with client factory acceptance tests/site acceptance tests.
