We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subject Leader of Religious Studies to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of the Religious Studies curriculum, ensuring that it is engaging, relevant, and meets the needs of all students.

The Subject Leader of Religious Studies will be a well-qualified specialist with a strong track record of teaching and leading in a secondary school setting. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, students, and parents.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development of the Religious Studies curriculum, ensuring that it is engaging, relevant, and meets the needs of all students.
  • Coordinating the delivery of Religious Studies across the academy, ensuring that it is of high quality and meets the needs of all students.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the progress of students in Religious Studies, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address these.
  • Working with colleagues to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies in Religious Studies.
  • Providing guidance and support to colleagues in Religious Studies, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.

Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degree.
  • Have a minimum of three years' teaching experience, ideally including KS5 and in multi-ethnic urban schools.
  • Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learning.
  • Have knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Have experience of delivering high-quality INSET to teaching staff within subject areas, and of using coaching as a model for ensuring ongoing professional development.
