Senior Cardiac Recovery Nurse

This role is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic team in the Cardiac Recovery Unit at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care to post-operative cardiothoracic patients requiring ventilator support and high dependency care.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the management, Cardiothoracic surgical team, Clinical nurse specialists, and the wider Multidisciplinary team to enhance patient care through various quality improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-focused clinical care to post-cardiothoracic patients.
- Maintain good standards of care for patients at all times.
- Adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Involving and supporting patients, relatives, carers, and friends in the care process.
- Promote well-being and involve patients and relatives in health education.
You will be responsible for working effectively as part of the immediate team and wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) through:
- Providing support and advice to ward/unit staff on clinical and administrative issues.
- Keeping the unit sister/charge nurse informed of significant changes and/or anticipated problems.
Upholding a duty of care and clinical governance through:
- Observing a general duty of care for the health, safety, and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors, and patients within the hospital.
- Ensuring the rules, policies, procedures, and standards of King's College Hospital NHS Trust Foundation together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations are adhered to at all times.
- Adhering to the Trust's policy on valuing equality and diversity and showing due regard for each patient's cultural and religious beliefs, gender, ethnicity, age, and sexuality.
- Taking responsibility for your own personal development and keeping up to date with nursing and medical knowledge.
- Being aware of current research and the implications for the ward/unit specialty.
- Acting as practice supervisor and/or preceptor/mentor for junior and newly qualified staff.
- Participating in Trust and Divisional initiatives to develop nursing practice and support change.
- Registered Nurse (RN1) with active NMC registration at time of starting appointment.
- Awareness and understanding of current acute health issues.
- Understanding of NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
The salary for this role is £35,964-£43,780 per annum, including High Cost Area. We also offer a range of benefits, including training opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and access to the NHS Pension Scheme.
