Overhead Line Technician Job Description

Network Rail is seeking an experienced Overhead Line Technician to join our team. As an Overhead Line Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of the overhead line system, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our rail network.


About the Role

In this role, you will work as part of a team to carry out planned works, respond to faults, and patrol the track. You will be responsible for assisting Overhead Operatives with their development and assisting Team Leaders in the delivery of planned work or fault response. You will also be required to work at height in a MEWP and use a range of tools and equipment, including earth poles, Overhead Line rigging equipment, and power hand tools.


Requirements

  • Experience working within Overhead Line maintenance or construction
  • A full clean driving licence
  • Problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • A strong safety ethic, including an ability to work at height
  • Willingness and ability to work shift patterns, including daytime, evening, and weekend work
  • The ability to undertake physical manual work outdoors, whatever the weather
