About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Controllership Accountant to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our accounting and finance organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the preparation of year-end accounting and audit information for our UK & I legal entities.

As a Senior Controllership Accountant, you will work closely with the UK&I Head of External Reporting and Europe & India Financial Controller to provide technical accounting advice across the region. You will also be responsible for leading on our annual impairment assessments of investments held by our UK & I entities and responding to technical accounting and audit-related queries from our external auditors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare year-end accounting and audit information for our UK & I legal entities
  • Provide technical accounting advice across the region
  • Lead on annual impairment assessments of investments held by our UK & I entities
  • Respond to technical accounting and audit-related queries from external auditors
  • Support the UK & I external audit process, including preparing extended trial balances and statutory accounting notes
  • Ensure UK & I statutory financial statements are accurate, comply with local GAAP and legal regulations, and are filed in accordance with local timescales
  • Supervise and direct our offshore Global Business Services (GBS) team to drive the efficient production of statutory accounts using software to optimize performance
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external finance colleagues, business partners, advisors, and key business leaders to support, optimize, explain, and manage the financial structures in place to support the business
  • Support the ongoing drive to reduce the complexity and size of our legal entity structure by simplifying legal entities and liquidating older legacy companies where possible
  • Support in the collation of financial information to assist bid submissions on potential future projects for the business
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc requests where possible
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  • Chartered Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar) with 5+ years' post-qualification experience
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Extensive experience in accounting and reporting: specifically technical financial reporting and audits in a public company environment
  • Pro-active and able to see things through to the end
  • Ability to be resourceful, hands-on, and work both independently and as part of a high-performing team
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple duties in a fast-paced environment
  • Motivated, able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Willingness to work with multiple different colleagues across different geographical regions, on a variety of initiatives
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and theoretical knowledge in financial reporting
  • Ability to think creatively, analyze, and solve problems
