About the Role

The Clinical Lead will provide clinical leadership, advice, and engagement for the Rare Disease Implementation Network. This will involve working with NHS and non-NHS partners, academia, industry, and patients to implement the network’s objectives.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Providing professional and clinical leadership for the Implementation Network
  • Providing clinical advice and scrutiny to constituent provider organisations on the activities and required support to deliver the objectives of the Implementation Network
  • Communicating the Implementation Network’s focus on quality and outcomes from national through to local level
  • Providing leadership for improving and safeguarding quality
  • Prioritising, developing, and promoting high-level national health & care pathways
  • Challenging organisations and clinicians around the timely adoption and implementation of best practice that will support elective recovery
  • Supporting national strategic/policy thinking regarding the speciality
  • Supporting the principles of the National Clinical Framework (NCF) and its delivery in Wales

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified healthcare professional with registration with the appropriate body
  • Full UK clinical accreditation and holding a substantive Medical, surgical, or Nurse/Clinical Practitioner post in Wales
  • Significant experience in the service area
  • Enhanced knowledge of the service area within Wales
  • Good understanding of clinical governance

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

The post holder may also have:

  • Relevant professional registration
  • Experience in managing and chairing groups
  • Working with key stakeholders
  • Recognised lead in the service area
  • Experience in post-graduate/multidisciplinary education
  • UK and international experience working within the service area
  • Research experience

  • Competence in clinical management
  • Sound judgment and decision making
  • Proven ability to manage complex work and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships on an individual and multi-disciplinary basis
