Are you passionate about inspiring the next generation of computer scientists?

Futures in STEM is an online academic and pastoral support programme designed to prepare Year 12 school students for university study. We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced Computer Science students to join our team as Programme Mentors.

The role involves providing guidance and support to students through regular online sessions, discussions, and activities. As a mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic goals and develop a passion for computer science.

We welcome applications from students who are confident in dealing with young people, have an awareness of the higher education application process, and can enthuse others about the benefits of studying computer science.

A key part of this role is implementing the University's Code of Conduct and monitoring the welfare and behaviour of the students. If you are a motivated and empathetic individual with excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in teaching and mentoring, while also contributing to the development of the next generation of computer scientists.

**Job Requirements:**

  • Currently a Durham University undergraduate or postgraduate student studying Computer Science or appropriate Computer Science modules within the Natural Sciences programme.
  • Able to act as a role model for your course of study, college and University.
  • Able to enthuse young people about progression to higher education.
  • Have an awareness of the process of applying to higher education.
  • Have an awareness of issues relating to progression to higher education.

**Estimated Salary: £10,750 - £11,270 per annum**, depending on experience and qualifications.
