Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Decommissioning Specialist to join our team at Rosyth Royal Dockyard. As a key member of the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), you will play a crucial role in the decommissioning, dismantling, and recycling of 27 ex-service nuclear submarines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and dispose of legacy radioactive waste and waste generated from submarine dismantling
  • Plan and strategize for future work on site associated with radioactive waste management
  • Contract management of work involving radioactive effluent treatment and radiochemistry lab capabilities on site
  • Audit of contractor operation and output
  • Monitor contractor performance on environmental protection and monitoring
  • Act as SDA's intelligent customer across the full range of work contracted at Rosyth
Requirements
  • Relevant Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience
  • Member of a Professional Engineering or Science Institute or equivalent body
  • Experience in providing technical advice and supporting the delivery of successful engineering outcomes
  • Technical experience in a nuclear or medical physics environment
