Electrochemist I Job Summary

UK Battery Industrialisation Centre is seeking an Electrochemist I to join our Electrochemistry team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of lithium-ion cells.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test lithium-ion cells.
  • Select and evaluate new chemistries and materials for lithium-ion cells.
  • Optimise electrode formulation, including coat weight, density, and porosity.
  • Plan, develop, and execute Design of Experiments for fabrication and testing of lithium-ion cells.
  • Evaluate cell performances and drive improvement activities.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to the team and stakeholders.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and technicians.
  • Liaise with customers and external test houses.

Requirements:

  • Masters or PhD in electrochemistry or a related discipline.
  • 5 or more years of direct industrial experience in the lithium-ion battery industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in cell design and development of products in a large volume production environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of electrochemical techniques such as impedance spectroscopy (EIS), cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic cycling (GC), and galvanostatic intermittent titration techniques (GITT or PITT).
