At Neo Environmental Ltd, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Professional to join our team in a Principal Ecologist position. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ecology and experience in working on a variety of projects, with a focus on renewables.
The role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work on a broad range of projects, from ecological surveys to report writing. You will be given the chance to develop your skills and expertise through ongoing mentoring and training in a friendly and dynamic environment.
The duties of the role will include:
- Undertaking ecological surveys, including phase 1/Fossitt habitat surveys and IVCs, protected species scoping surveys, and bat surveys.
- Producing comprehensive reports, including preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments, EIA chapters, biodiversity management plans, protected species reports, and appropriate assessments/Natura Impact Statements.
- Liaising with clients and statutory consultees, attending client and site meetings, and undertaking ECoW roles where required.
- Line management responsibility and team leadership duties for the Ballymena office.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree in ecology or a similar subject, significant professional report writing experience, and good knowledge of Irish ecological legislation and regulations. You will also need to be technically competent, able to produce high-quality reports, and have strong organisational skills.
Desirable criteria include CIEEM accreditation, demonstrable postgraduate experience in ecology surveys, ornithology experience, bat survey experience, GWDTE experience, ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW) experience, and knowledge or experience using ArcGIS or similar.
