About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Services Support Officer to join our team at Swansea Bay University Health Board. As a key member of our Estates department, you will play a crucial role in implementing Welsh Government's new recycling regulation requirements and undertaking environmental audits across our premises.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental audits in accordance with Health Board policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to ensure compliance.
  • Assist Technical Services Officers with service improvements, including progressing compliance to the recycling agenda and coordinating the collection of data to produce reports highlighting good practice and non-compliance.
  • Lead on the implementation of waste recycling schemes to address the Environment Act (Wales) and provide ongoing compliance auditing of Health Board-wide services and functions.
  • Investigate and provide remedial actions for non-compliance, working closely with relevant departments and external agencies.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to staff, suppliers, and external agencies on environmental matters, ensuring the Health Board meets its objectives in energy and environmental targets.

Person Specification

  • GCSE English and Maths at C
  • NVQ3 plus IOSH/NEBOSH Environmental Management Qualification equivalent to diploma level, or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within waste/environmental fields, with a strong understanding of environmental management principles and practices.
