We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Lead Health Psychologist to join our team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Clinical Health Psychology department, you will play a vital role in providing specialist psychological support to babies, their families, and staff on the Neonatal Care Unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide highly specialist psychological assessments to families while they are currently on the Neonatal Unit.
  2. Advise on appropriate psychoeducation and training to staff to help them provide high-quality psychologically informed support to all families.
  3. Provide psychological support and supervision for staff working on the unit.
  4. Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the family's experience.
  5. Undertake risk assessment and risk management where appropriate and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management in line with Trust and inter-agency policies and procedures.
  6. Work in partnership with other disciplines and maintain links with statutory and non-statutory and primary care agencies, as appropriate.
  7. Will be required to sit in a constrained position for therapy and extended assessment.
  8. Will be required to deal with the intense emotional atmosphere surrounding therapy contacts which may be frequently highly distressing, and to work with frequent intense concentration for much of the clinical sessions of assessment and therapy.
  9. Teaching, training, and supervision.

Requirements:

  • Possess a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or a related field.
  • Hold a Band 8b post or equivalent.
  • Have experience working with babies and families on the Neonatal Care Unit.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Have a strong understanding of psychological theories and models.
  • Be able to provide high-quality written and verbal reports.
  • Have experience working with complex and sensitive cases.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
