Job Summary

Elkington and Fife is seeking a highly motivated and talented Trainee Patent Attorney to join our team in Sevenoaks. As a Trainee Patent Attorney, you will play a key role in supporting our teams of experienced patent attorneys in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in a wide range of technical subjects, including chemistry, life sciences, materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, electromechanics, and electronics.
  • Conduct thorough searches of existing patents and literature to identify relevant prior art.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective strategies for patent protection.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific or technical discipline, such as chemistry, life sciences, materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, electromechanics, or electronics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
