Job Title: Principal Safety Engineer

Our client, a leading defence systems company, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Safety Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the Systems Safety team, you will be responsible for delivering complex safety-critical systems and upholding defence standards across multiple platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct safety analyses, including HAZOPs, FFA, FTA, and FMECA, adhering to safety processes and guidelines from Def Stan and IEC61508.
  • Generate safety requirements ensuring compliance with customer safety targets.
  • Present compelling safety arguments to stakeholders, influencing key safety decisions.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to enhance our reputation through high-quality outputs.
  • Support audits during internal and external design reviews and safety committee meetings.
Requirements:
  • Proven track record in Systems Safety within the UK Defence industry.
  • Relevant qualification (Degree, HND, or HNC) in Engineering or Safety Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in safety/reliability analysis techniques and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Understanding of safety assurance for COTS PE-based systems or high-integrity software.
