Building Services Engineering Technician Apprentice

Our Building Services Disciplines- Mechanical Engineering: We apply modern control technology and energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems to create optimal internal environments. We work with architects to ensure building forms are thermally efficient, meeting or exceeding energy targets.
- Electrical Engineering: We deliver expert thinking to drive efficient solutions for high and low voltage power supplies, utilities, standby generation, UPS, resilient systems, small power, fire alarms, security, lighting, and power. We focus on critical systems and resilience levels.
- Public / Environmental Health Engineering: We deliver energy and water-efficient solutions for hot and cold water systems, solar thermal, sprinklers, drainage systems, water treatment, fire suppression, and irrigation systems. We also provide sophisticated water reclaim and recycling systems for optimal water conservation and Sustainable Drainage Solutions (SuDS)/Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD).
- Participate in all production aspects of projects in the office.
- Receive guidance or direction from others to:
- Produce draft design drawings for projects.
- Carry out design calculations for checking and approval.
- Use REVIT to automate design calculations and produce CAD drawings.
- Compile tender packages, including drawings and specifications.
- Visit sites to review MEP installations' progress.
- Implement Safety Health and Environment procedures.
- Integrate sustainability into all design aspects.
- Collaborate with others as part of the team.
- No experience is necessary, but the position is ideally suited to school leavers with A-Level standard (or equivalent) who can demonstrate:
- A minimum of three A levels at Grades A*-C, including Mathematics and Physical Science (either Physics or Chemistry) or a level 3 Apprenticeship BTEC National Diploma in a relevant field.
- A L2 Maths and English qualification (GSCE grade A*- C / new tariff grade 4 or above).
- An interest in pursuing a career in Building Engineering.
- A commitment to continued education and improvement through on-the-job learning and training opportunities.
- Creative, practical, adaptable, and enthusiastic.
- The ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
- The ability to think methodically to design, plan, and organize project parts.
- English language proficiency, with excellent communication skills to present information in speech, drawings, and reports.
Applicants must be willing to progress their careers by undertaking a day-release course at a Further Education college to study a relevant course relating to Building Services. AECOM will fund your study, and you'll earn an income as a permanent employee. Subsequently, the expectation is that you'll go on to achieve relevant professional qualifications as part of your career development.
