Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our maintenance team at Addenbrooke's Treatment Centre in Cambridge, UK.

About the Role

This exciting opportunity involves applying relevant trade skills to carry out maintenance/repair or mechanical/electrical services to plant and equipment across the site. The ideal candidate will have a recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.

The successful candidate will work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to ensure the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the site.

This role includes preparing pressure vessels for insurance inspections and carrying out necessary repairs/testing, maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, gas appliances, Piped Medical Gas systems, steam plant/equipment and all other equipment in plant rooms, patient areas and other departments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Apply relevant trade skills to any allocated jobs as directed by the Supervisor or Manager.
  2. Work alone with minimum supervision or within a team to carry out maintenance/repair or mechanical/electrical services to plant and equipment across the Site.
  3. Responsible for the safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems, associated plant/equipment installed throughout the Site.
  4. Carry out mechanical/electrical repairs and cleaning of mechanical components and equipment as necessary.
  5. Undertake training and qualify as Authorised or Competent Person for mechanical/electrical plant and systems as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A recognised mechanical trade apprenticeship and/or relevant qualifications to level 3 (theory and practice) in a relevant mechanical discipline with suitable industry experience.
  • Experience in building services is required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good planning, organising and prioritising skills.
  • Ability to show examples of using initiative and judgement to resolve problems.
