Job Title: ICT Support Engineer (Critical Systems)

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced ICT Support Engineer to join our team in Worcester. As a critical systems engineer, you will be responsible for providing high-level technical support for critical systems and applications that are essential to ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Technical Support: Deliver expert technical support across a range of critical systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  2. Team Leadership: Provide local supervision and guidance to colleagues within the Specialist Technical Support Team.
  3. Service Delivery: Ensure the delivery of a high-quality, end-to-end ICT service for both internal and external customers.
  4. Incident Management: Manage incidents and changes in line with ITIL best practices to minimize disruption and ensure seamless service delivery.
  5. Infrastructure Support: Support and maintain key infrastructure components, including Windows Server, VMware, M365, and networks.
  6. Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve issues within command and control systems, ensuring critical services remain operational.
Requirements:
  1. Technical Expertise: Strong background in application support and Windows Server environments.
  2. Experience: Experience in VMware and M365.
  3. ITIL Knowledge: Experience with ITIL incident and change management processes.
  4. Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a customer-centric approach to support.
  5. High-Pressure Environment: Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, especially within Operations & Communications Centres.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Command and Control Systems: Experience with command and control systems (Saab SAFE, Sopra Steria STORM, Capita ControlWorks, etc.).
  2. Networking and Telephony: Knowledge of networking and telephony systems.
  3. Database Support: Experience in database support (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
  4. Azure Virtual Desktop: Familiarity with Airwave radio systems and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  5. Load Balancing and Monitoring: Exposure to load balancing (JetNexus) and monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
  6. Cybersecurity: A background in cybersecurity or supporting policing/emergency services technology.
