Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at The Disabilities Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality occupational therapy services to individuals with acquired brain injuries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide occupational therapy input to service users with acquired brain injuries.
  • Lead on occupational therapy provision within the service, ensuring that services are delivered in accordance with best practice and evidence-based guidelines.
  • Liaise with internal and external professionals, family members, and service users to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Manage and prioritize a caseload of service users with complex mental and physical health needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, using evidence-based and service-user-centered principles.
  • Assess and address occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling service users to maintain independence and participate in daily activities.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately to colleagues and take responsibility for handover, monitoring, and review.
  • Use highly developed interpersonal skills and empathy to engage service users and families who may be resistant to the rehabilitation process.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation, adhering to Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to establish service-user-centered therapeutic goals and promote service-user choices.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Experience working with individuals with acquired brain injuries.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Highly developed critical thinking skills and ability to make professional judgments.
