Principal Accountant Opportunity

Connect2Luton, a recruitment managed service for Luton Borough Council, is seeking a highly skilled Principal Accountant to join their Corporate Finance Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on key areas, including budget preparation, financial planning, and deficit recovery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the preparation of the council's budget and Medium Term Financial Plan, including scenario analysis and interaction with other strategies.
  • Implement the requirements of the CIPFA Financial Management Code and recommendations from Corporate Peer Challenge Review.
  • Monitor and report on the council's deficit recovery plan, including transformation savings and financial due diligence.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Budget Report and information provided to Policy Group and other Committees.
