About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to lead our team at DP World London Gateway, a state-of-the-art deep sea container port and logistics park development. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the environment team and environmental programme, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement environmental strategies and monitoring programmes, working closely with stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
  • Manage the environmental and permitting programme of works, ensuring relevant licenses, permits, and permissions are obtained and compliance with environmental laws.
  • Lead the development and implementation of DP World London Gateway's environmental monitoring programmes and strategies, including developing monitoring scopes, tendering works, and reviewing reports and outputs.
  • Represent DP World London Gateway on environmental matters with regulators, customers, and tenants, trade associations, NGOs, and the local community.
  • Procure resources to meet the requirements of the environmental programme, managing the environmental works undertaken by contractors and consultants.
  • Develop budgets for environmental works and ensure delivery within agreed project budgets.
  • Provide advisory support to project teams on contracts to mitigate potential claims associated with environmental aspects.
  • Manage the submission of documentation required to satisfy environmental planning conditions.
Requirements
  • Degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or equivalent qualification.
  • Full membership of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in relevant roles, with team management experience and strong knowledge of environmental laws related to development activities.
  • Proven track record of project management on large projects, including environmental programmes and achieving environmental consents.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to negotiate contracts.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to handle complex project management issues.
