We maintain over 24,000 miles of roads, 280,000 lighting assets, and 20,000 miles of footways, prioritizing sustainability and minimal impact on local communities. Our latest achievement includes being awarded Suffolk's new highways services contract, commencing on October 2023, which will deliver projects and improvements across Suffolk.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to work as part of our operations crew, undertaking various labouring duties including excavation works, laying and levelling of kerbs, slabs, and bitumen macadam, drainage, and gully installations.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in operational delivery of the contract, ensuring reasonable care for health, safety, and welfare of self and others while complying with local and statutory Health & Safety procedures.
  • Operate small plant and equipment used in highway maintenance under guidance from Site Supervisor.
  • Contribute to an out-of-hours emergency call-out system covering the Suffolk Highways network.
Requirements
  • Clean driving licence.
  • Ground Works experience, preferably in highways.
  • Willingsness to work outside normal hours and weekends as required (paid as overtime) in all weathers.
  • Demonstration of capability to gain HGV Class C licence during probationary period - emergency standby and winter maintenance are contractual parts of the service delivered.

Estimated Salary

£28,000 - £35,000 per annum, based on location and experience.
