Therapeutic Support Specialist

St. Croix River Education District seeks a highly skilled Physical Therapist to join our team as a Therapeutic Support Specialist. In this role, you will work closely with special education staff to adapt educational equipment and instruction to help students with physical disabilities achieve their goals.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Identification, Screening and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough evaluations of infants and toddlers, ages birth to three, to identify their needs and develop personalized strategies.
- Evaluate students ages three through 21 suspected of having disabilities, as well as those with disabilities who are currently receiving special education services.
- Facilitate the review of medical notes and other relevant documents to inform your assessments.
- Service Delivery:
- Develop tailored therapeutic plans that cater to each student's unique needs and abilities.
- Collaborate with educators to implement accommodations and modifications to educational materials and the instructional environment.
- Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services to students in their homes and schools.
- Assist in gathering accurate data on student progress and make adjustments to their plans as needed.
- Consultation and Collaboration:
- Participate in IEP planning for students with physical disabilities, providing input on PT service goals and determining suitable accommodations.
- Work with educators to develop evacuation plans for students who require them and provide training on the use and storage of evacuation equipment.
- Collaborate on PCA Plans of Care for students covered under the Minnesota Health Care Program (MHCP).
- Professional Learning:
- Provide ongoing training to educators on specialized equipment, curriculum materials, and environmental modifications.
- Supervise PCAs providing ADL services to students covered under MHCP.
- Develop resources and tools to support PT services when needed.
- Identification, Screening and Evaluation:
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. St. Croix River Education District offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
