Key Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Technician at Eurofins UK Genomics, you will be responsible for performing analytical laboratory work. This includes the handling and recording of accurate analytical source data, as well as the insertion of this data into Eurofins systems.

Additional responsibilities include the preparation of worksheets for daily laboratory work, contributing to quality assurance by participating in the implementation of new analysis and new equipment, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and sub-instructions for laboratory work.

Key Tasks:

  • Preparation of worksheets for daily laboratory work
  • Contribution to quality assurance by participating in the implementation of new analysis and new equipment
  • Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge of SOPs and sub-instructions for laboratory work
  • Management of incoming samples
  • Preparation of samples, cDNA, and Master mix reagents
  • Handling, storage, and disposal of samples after analysis
  • Handling and maintenance of instruments and equipment
  • Performance of sample reception, quality control, normalization of samples, PCR preparations, and procedures for analysis on the instrument
  • Preparation of samples for shipment
  • Ensuring personal User-Training-Log is up to date and properly documented
  • Contribution to the preparation of safety procedures
  • Reporting any problems in the laboratory to the Team Leader
  • Performance of monthly stock inventory
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, as well as excellent IT knowledge and experience. GCSE qualifications or equivalent are also required, as well as a basic knowledge of molecular biology and hands-on experience in a laboratory setting. NGS experience is desirable, and skills in equipment maintenance are essential.
