Job Overview

ENGINEERINGUK is seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Deployment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Infrastructure Delivery (ID) team, you will play a crucial role in the scaling and physical deployment of new data center infrastructure.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced individual who can project manage small to large cabling projects within our data centers. The ideal candidate must be able to perform repetitive tasks, adhere to standard processes and best practices, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cable Installation: Install cabling infrastructure in a data centre environment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Cable Testing: Understand and operate industry cable test procedures and equipment for various cabling systems, including Copper/Fibre test equipment, OTDR, Network analyser, VFL, etc.
  • Project Management: Report current project status via ticketing system, status reports, and updates to Foreman/PM, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results.
  • Physical Demands: Work in noisy areas with extreme temperatures, occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors, and manage material deliveries to site daily.
  • Cable Audits: Conduct physical audits of cable basket capacity and Fire opening audits throughout the data centres, identifying potential issues and proposing remediation plans.
  • Basket Remediation: Create basket remediation projects and check baskets' structural integrity, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.
  • Design and QA: Submit design packs, engage with CIPP teams, complete QA surveys, and conduct QA audits of New DC builds from room1 to all subsequent rooms.
  • Scaling Projects: Work with PIC and ID teams on scaling projects, covering cable pathways, routes, and installation best practices, and initiate regular training sessions for AWS staff and cabling vendors/contractors.

Requirements

  • Education: High school or equivalent diploma.
  • Cabling Knowledge: Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and problem-resolution skills, with experience dealing with customers and operating efficiently under pressure.
