Adrian Fisher Associates is seeking a highly skilled Financial Manager to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial and accounting activities for the business, including its subsidiaries and joint ventures.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in managing financial systems, internal controls, and financial reporting. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to the Managing Director and the Board.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage the company's financial systems, including Xero, to ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
  2. Oversee internal controls, including accounting, approvals, delegated authorities, and exception reporting.
  3. Manage corporation tax and VAT matters, working with external tax advisers.
  4. Oversee project costs and ensure accurate recording and control.
  5. Control day-to-day banking arrangements, ensuring payment processes are well-controlled.
  6. Provide timely and relevant management information to the Managing Director and the Board.
  7. Manage the budget and forward business plan processes.
  8. Manage the company's office, including lease, office costs, and compliance with office policies.
  9. Manage a portfolio of rental properties, ensuring timely receipt of rents and proactive management.
  10. Oversee IT systems and control investment in new office equipment.
  11. Oversee external HR and payroll services, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
  12. Undertake key weekly and monthly financial controls, reconciling ledgers, and reporting issues.
  13. Manage the year-end accounts and audit process.
  14. Ensure corporation tax returns and VAT returns are completed and submitted accurately and on time.
  15. Oversee the updating of project costs and ensure abortive costs are highlighted for write-off.
  16. Complete the monthly payroll, working with the external HR provider.
  17. Maintain a suite of company policies, ensuring operations are under appropriate control.
  18. Review property contracts to highlight risks and concerns.
  19. Collect rent on company-owned properties and liaise with managing agents.
  20. Oversee the company's insurance programme, ensuring appropriate cover is in place.
  21. Work with the Managing Director to secure loan funding for acquired properties.
  22. Ensure compliance with company policies and external legal requirements.
  23. Provide accurate and timely accounting of transactions to enable decision-making.
  24. Ensure the company is not exposed to undue risk through effective internal controls.
  25. Ensure compliance with all accounting, tax, and corporate reporting requirements.
