Senior Internal Audit Manager

The Richmond and Wandsworth Councils are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Auditor to join their Internal Audit team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for undertaking assignments across the Councils, providing an independent appraisal of the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal controls across directorates and other areas.

The Internal Audit team is a strategic partner and catalyst for change, using expertise to drive sustainable growth and create and protect value for the Councils. With a strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration and partnership, the team is inclusive, diverse, and energized, breaking down barriers to enable team members to thrive in a dynamic environment where they and their ideas matter.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously (or lead a small team) to deliver assigned audit deliverables to quality and time budget. They will have good knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of auditing, including technology integrated audits, and an understanding of risks and controls associated with a local authority's operations. They will also have good analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and influence senior stakeholders.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will be an experienced auditor with the ability to work autonomously (or lead a small team) to deliver assigned audit deliverables to quality and time budget. They will have good knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of auditing, including technology integrated audits, and an understanding of risks and controls associated with a local authority's operations. They will also have good analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and influence senior stakeholders. They will be a full (or part) qualified member of a CCAB body or equivalent (CMIIA, IIA or AAT) or have + years of experience in internal or external audit. Experience with Power BI would also be highly advantageous, as the function is currently rolling out the Data Analytics programme.
