Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Ward Manager to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for the operational effectiveness of our surgical ward, leading and managing a team of nurses to deliver high-quality patient care.

Main Duties of the Job

The successful candidate will have recent experience of working in an acute or surgical area at either Band 6 or Band 7 level. You will be a leader, highly focused, enthusiastic, and motivated, with excellent communication skills at all levels. You will be responsible for mentoring and developing the nursing staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent patient care.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a degree or be working towards a first degree, and will have completed a specialist course, mentorship course, and management training. They will also have relevant experience in the clinical speciality, with at least 2 years' experience at Band 6 level. They will be able to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development, and will have up-to-date knowledge of clinical speciality and evidence-based practice.
