Senior Paediatric Intensive Care Nurse

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Nurse to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team at The Portland Hospital. Our modern, 14-bed PICU offers cutting-edge treatment using the latest technology and has the support of a specialized team of Consultant Paediatric Intensivists 24/7.
As a Senior Staff Nurse on our PICU, you'll take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse while developing, implementing and evaluating holistic care plans for children in partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team. You'll also act as a role model and mentor to our junior/student nurses, using your interpersonal skills to develop long-standing relationships with children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement holistic care plans for children in partnership with the multidisciplinary team
- Take responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Sister/Charge nurse
- Act as a role model and mentor to junior/student nurses
- Develop long-standing relationships with children and their families
Requirements:
- NMC Child Registered Nurse (RN Child / RSCN) with immediate paediatric life support
- Post Graduate experience working in a PICU setting
- Understanding of Safeguarding issues
- Teaching and mentoring experience desirable
- Completion of a PICU Course that is equivalent to 60 credits
- Excellent clinical governance and experience with audits
- Experience of supervising and assessing students and shift leading is desirable
