About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join their dynamic team in Manchester. As a Senior Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement team, focusing on sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing for the company's chemical needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best quality and pricing for chemical products.
  • Manage the end-to-end RFQ process, from initial request to final supplier selection.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with production sites to understand and meet their chemical material needs.
  • Travel to Europe (1-2 times per month) to engage with key stakeholders including colleagues in European offices, as well as suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

Requirements

  • Extensive background in procurement with a proven track record in delivering cost savings and driving efficiencies.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to Europe regularly.
  • Experience with RFQ processes and supplier management.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools. This company uses SAP so any experience with SAP would be advantageous.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
