About the Role:


We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects.



Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional looking to progress their career as a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our industry-leading team. You will have the chance to work on a wide range of projects, from residential housing developments to advanced manufacturing and data centres.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out detailed Mechanical Building Services Design Engineering on new build and refurbishment construction projects;
  • Assist senior staff in feasibility studies, concept, and scheme design stages;
  • Attend design team meetings alongside other staff members;
  • Inspect and report on mechanical building services systems;
  • Undertake Mechanical design work consisting of surveys, design, drawings, and specifications for projects;
  • Work in conjunction with other design team members as required as part of an overall project team; ensure the design and maintenance of building systems meet legislative and health and safety requirements;
  • Utilise Building Services software for calculations;
  • Produce marked up drawings for CAD by others or direct CAD design drawings for issue;
  • Select and specify products, equipment, and installation standards relating to Mechanical services suitable for costing and installation by Contractors;
  • Attend project design meetings, technical meetings, value engineering workshops, and risk workshops as required by the project in conjunction with more senior staff;


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and experience commensurate with the underpinning and knowledge requirements for Incorporated Engineer aligned to either IMechE or CIBSE requirements.



You will also need to have expertise in designing principal mechanical systems taken from a concept level of design through to detailed design (BSRIA BG6 Stage 4A), including ventilation design, chilled water, comfort cooling design, domestic hot and cold water systems/public health, heating systems, above ground drainage, HVAC control principles, and use of Hevacomp/IES or equivalent.
