The ideal candidate will have experience in ED or inpatient wards, with a commitment to learning and ongoing professional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the CDU and leading a team of nurses and clinical support workers
  • Providing clinical guidelines and ensuring patient care is of the highest possible standard
  • Developing, monitoring, and auditing standards for use in the clinical area
  • Coordinating daily activities and operations with CDU and safely pulling patients from other areas within ED
  • Maintaining effective use of bed availability by timely and effective admission and discharge

Key Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • BLS or ILS
  • Practice Supervisor or Mentorship Course
  • A&E/Emergency Care course or equivalent
  • Degree to BSc level
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications
  • Cannulation and venipuncture
  • IV administration competence

Desirable Qualifications

  • ALS provider
  • ATNC/ATLS attendance
  • PILS/APLS

Previous Experience

  • Previous experience of working in ED or inpatient wards
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development

  • Experience of assessing and teaching pre-registration students
  • Experience in supporting and developing unregistered nurses
  • Currently working in an acute or inpatient environment within the NHS
