We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate professional to join our team as a Fostering Advisor. As a key member of our Integrated Services Programme (ISP), you will play a vital role in supporting foster parents and children in their journey towards a brighter future.
Key Responsibilities- Provide regular phone contact with foster parents to discuss their progress and share ideas and strategies for supporting children.
- Make home visits to foster families, agreed with the ISP Social Worker and Centre Manager, to offer advice and information on support services available.
- Coordinate training for foster parents, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide the best possible care for children.
- Be actively involved in contact arrangements, supervised contact, respite and transport arrangements, and crisis intervention.
- Support children and young people in their leisure activities and assist in facilitating discussion groups and presentations at the Centre.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, as required, and be conversant with applicable regulations and standards.
- Understanding of Fostering regulations and standards, including the Children's Act and Fostering Service National Minimum Standards.
- Some first-hand knowledge or experience of Fostering, ideally as a foster parent or as part of a Fostering family.
- Previous experience or a willingness to work in a therapeutic model of child care.
- Ability to build good working relationships with professionals from various disciplines and a commitment to developing positive working relationships with other staff, outside agencies, and foster parents.
- A full driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle, with confidence driving across the region.
