Job Summary

The appointed Utilities Project Manager will oversee a series of utilities protection works, temporary utility connections, and permanent utilities diversions from inception to completion. The role requires managing projects in line with prevailing time and cost constraints, ensuring individual projects meet project milestones in a cost-effective manner to mitigate identified risks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and implement utility works programmes to meet project milestones in a cost-effective manner to mitigate identified risks.
  • Provide strategic direction on all utility works through the design, planning, and delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Liaise with key external stakeholders and develop working relationships with utility companies.
  • Chair regular meetings with utility companies and key stakeholders to monitor the progress of the project(s) and work that needs to be completed.
  • Report programme progress and obtain commercial/project approvals as required.
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with utility works on appointed projects.
  • Closely monitor the financial results of the team/project against plans and budgets.
  • Formulate and successfully implement company policies as required.
  • Communicate and ensure compliance of company policies.
  • Ensure that the operating objectives and standards of performance are maintained in the Project.
  • Establish project requirements and ensure correct level and competence of resource required to deliver.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant utilities experience.
  • Proven utility industry background with knowledge and understanding of utility companies' processes and business drivers.
  • Demonstrable track record of managing utility works within large construction programmes.
  • A qualification in civil engineering, project management, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of UK Rail and/or UK Highways industries.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain excellent collaborative, working relationships and effective channels of communication within a project environment.
  • Experience of working within multi-discipline project teams.
  • Good understanding of project design, construction, and delivery interfaces.
  • CSCS card holder.
