About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join our team at the boohoo group. As a Senior Garment Technologist, you will be responsible for leading the technical development of our garment products, ensuring high-quality standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fit sessions for high-profile product areas and balance speed and quality to make commercial decisions with confidence.
  • Support the Technical team and Tech Manager in managing fit sessions and product areas, and manage Junior Techs.
  • Send clear, concise, and accurate comments to suppliers, process samples in a timely and agile manner, and meet KPIs.
  • Liaise with design, buying, and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development, reducing costs and improving quality.
  • Work directly with suppliers and the technical team to improve areas of weakness, including in-house training and development of the Technical team.
  • Ensure compliance with product safety and REACH legislation, assess risk, advise on relevant testing, record, and resolve non-compliance effectively and efficiently.
  • Contribute to initiatives to reduce customer returns and promote quality at all times while maintaining a strong commercial attitude.
  • Identify and manage new projects, feed back to the Tech Manager, peers, and Technologists with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practices.

About You

  • Previous experience in a senior role in a similar environment is essential.
  • A technically-oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is essential.
  • Able to work both individually and part of a team, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Multi-product experience, including fringe areas, and the ability to move between product areas.
  • Confident and strong individual, with the ability to manage the team, expectations, and their own fit sessions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.
  • Pattern cutting knowledge and practice are desirable, alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules.
  • Knowledge and experience of Gerber and/or similar Pattern system are essential.
  • Experience of working directly with factories and a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control.
  • First-class communication skills to both the QA Manager and wider team are essential.
  • Keen interest in overseas travel is essential.
  • Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Strong time-management skills, able to prioritize tasks and change direction with agility.
  • Confident using Outlook, Excel, and Word, and keen to expand skill set as the role demands.

Interview Process

If we think you could be a good fit for the role, you will be asked to have an informal conversation with one of our Talent Partners. If successful from this meeting, you will then be asked to meet with the Line Manager at our Dale Street HQ. They will go through your experience in more detail and find out what value you could bring to the team.
