At Serco, we are seeking an Anglican Chaplain to join our team at HMP Fosse Way. The successful candidate will work as part of the Multi-Faith team, ensuring that all prisoners can participate in worship and other activities in line with their religious convictions.
The Anglican Chaplain will provide pastoral and faith-specific care to prisoners and staff, establishing and maintaining HMP Fosse Way as a model of excellence for religious, spiritual, and pastoral services.
The role involves facilitating worship, meditation, and study programs, as well as contributing to the development of local policy and procedures. The Chaplain will also provide mentoring and personal support to other chaplains and volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years' experience in delivering services and activities within a custodial environment, with a flexible approach to working. They should be comfortable working collaboratively in a multi-faith chaplaincy and have the ability to fulfill all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through the medium of English.
The successful candidate will be required to meet the faith/belief eligibility requirements for their chosen faith/belief, as outlined in the Group Profile. They will also need to have formal endorsement from the HMPPS Anglican Faith Adviser, confirming eligibility and suitability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a Faith/Belief adviser in the establishment, providing advice, pastoral care, and spiritual welfare to prisoners, staff, and their families.
- Facilitating and delivering opportunities for worship, meditation, study, and religious programs.
- Contributing to the development of local policy, procedures, and practice.
- Providing mentoring and personal support for other chaplains and volunteers.
- Planning and leading worship, meditation, prayer, and faith/belief-specific meetings.
- Providing pastoral care to prisoners and helping to resolve crisis situations.
- Facilitating services provided by contractors and volunteers.
- Acquiring and distributing appropriate religious literature, supplies, and materials.
- Participating in Faith Awareness Training for staff.
- Taking responsibility for their own spiritual health and development.
