Restaurant Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Supervisor to manage daily operations and maintain exceptional service standards at Englands Grace, a prestigious restaurant in London.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure smooth service delivery and guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor dining areas and service points to ensure compliance with Food Standards Agency regulations and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain stock levels and liaise with kitchen staff regarding menu availability to ensure efficient service and minimize waste.
  • Implement and maintain quality control standards for food and beverage service to ensure consistency and excellence.
  • Complete due diligence documentation as required by EHO standards to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Supervise and mentor front-of-house staff, including waiting staff, hosts, and bar staff, to develop their skills and knowledge and improve service standards.
  • Create staff rotas ensuring appropriate coverage during peak trading periods and manage staff scheduling to minimize labor costs.
  • Conduct team briefings and training sessions to ensure staff are aware of company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Support the recruitment process and conduct staff inductions to ensure new staff are properly trained and integrated into the team.
  • Participate in performance reviews and disciplinary procedures to ensure fair and consistent treatment of staff.
  • Provide on-the-job training and development opportunities to support staff growth and career development.
  • Maintain floor presence during service to ensure guest satisfaction and handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and effectively.
  • Monitor table management and waiting times during busy periods to ensure efficient service and minimize wait times.
  • Manage bookings and special events coordination to ensure smooth service delivery and guest satisfaction.
  • Build rapport with regular customers to ensure loyalty and repeat business.
  • Support implementation of allergen awareness procedures to ensure guest safety and well-being.
  • Assist in managing wage costs and rota planning within budget to ensure efficient labor management.
  • Monitor KPIs and sales data to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions to optimize service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents and resolutions to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
  • Support menu development and pricing strategies to ensure menu offerings are competitive and appealing to guests.
  • Help implement marketing initiatives and promotional events to drive sales and increase brand awareness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and UK employment law to minimize risk and ensure fair treatment of staff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths and English.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision and Leadership desirable.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in hospitality, including supervisory experience.
  • Level 2 Food Safety Certificate desirable.
  • First Aid qualification advantageous.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in EPOS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of P&L and budget management.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time position, 40-48 hours per week.
  • Flexible working pattern including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
