Job Summary:

Symes Collins is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Global Head of Legal and Compliance to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Group Legal Function: Develop and implement a global legal framework, creating group procedures and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Compliance Team Oversight: Lead the global compliance team, advising the senior management team on all UK compliance obligations and requirements.
  • Provision of Legal Advice: Provide reactive and proactive legal advice on all matters, including regulatory, corporate, litigation, employment, IT, IP, DPA, and general commercial issues.
  • Strategic Risk Management: Develop and deliver strategic legal risk management initiatives to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Implementation of Legal Strategy: Develop and implement legal strategy and plans, ensuring effective global organizational structure for the group.
  • Advisory Services: Advise on offshore fund structures, development of commercial and internal documents, and review of incoming legal documents from external partners.
  • Supporting Documentation: Assist in preparation of legal, risk, and compliance-related supporting documentation and materials for group and UK board meetings.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Lawyer with 10+ years of PQE and at least 5 years in an In-House Legal role or similar combined role gained with a global asset management business.
  • Experience: Significant FCA compliance experience, with a good knowledge of relevant UK rules and regulations applicable to UK asset management business (including FSMA, AIFMD, and MiFID II).
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to build and develop the department and team, and a confident and polished individual with a good understanding of the asset management industry.
