Job Title: Principal Manufacturing Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join MBDA UK Ltd. This role offers a unique chance to drive excellence and innovation in our manufacturing processes, working at the forefront of our ambitious projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead multiple projects and manufacturing tasks, while overseeing team leadership and management.
  • Manage the industrial validation process, ensuring FMEA's, process proving activities, and IV dashboards are up-to-date and current.
  • Ensure configuration control by embodying design modifications into manufacturing documentation and industrial validation.
  • Support Senior Manufacturing Engineers in their day-to-day technical roles.
  • Manage team workload, priorities, and key problems to ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide team leadership, managing team holidays, dynamic working, sickness/absence, appraisals, and courageous conversations.
  • Support the manufacturing area in its growth and rate increase.
  • Promote continuous improvement through the team/organisation and lead CI activities.
  • Assume responsibilities for safe operating implementation for changed processes, including liaising with COSHH assessors, SHE, and Human factors.
  • Interface with the design authority during the product prototype/development phase to ensure optimised Design for Manufacture (DfM), or in the production phase for change implementation.
  • Lead the team in ensuring updates of Manufacturing Instructions and maintenance of production BOMs and on-time delivery in line with the master production schedule (MPS).
Requirements:
  • Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3.
  • Formal further education certificate to HNC or equivalent in a relevant subject.
  • BEng in a relevant Engineering Degree.
  • Be highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and commitment to meeting delivery milestones.
  • Have the ability to interpret Design Drawings with a view to producing Manufacturing Build Instructions.
  • Be confident in people leadership and holding effective team/individual discussions.
  • Awareness of digital communication platforms to work and communicate effectively within the workplace.
