About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special needs school in Tiverton. This rewarding role is perfect for someone passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide general classroom support, including one-on-one and small group interventions
  • Assist the teacher with lesson preparation, resource gathering, supervision, and activity setup
  • Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, maintaining a safe and supportive environment
  • Manage behaviour in accordance with students' EHCPs, catering to their individual needs
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and actively engaging in learning
About the School

The school is a special school catering to students aged 11-16, with over 100 enrolled. It focuses on students with autism, ADHD, and related needs. The school operates across two sites, with a purpose-built nurture facility. Early school hours are in place to meet the needs of the students. Small class sizes (maximum of 10 students) and a high staff-to-student ratio ensure individualised attention.

About You
  • Passionate about working with young people, particularly those with autism and ADHD
  • Proactive, resilient, and eager to be an active part of the school community
  • Have a good sense of humour and thrive in a team environment
  • Skilled in building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers
  • Prior experience with autism and ADHD is highly desirable
Working with Long-term Teachers
