About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Risk Manager to join our Second Line Risk team. As a key member of our team, you will report to the Head of Risk and play a critical role in maintaining an effective approach to Risk Management frameworks, methodologies, and practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the Group Risk Management Framework within functional areas of the business.
  • Coordinate and facilitate engaging risk conversations through quarterly risk and control assessments, providing adequate support, oversight, and challenge.
  • Support Senior Management Function Managers and Risk Owners to assess the effectiveness of their control environments and associated action plans to address areas of weaknesses.
  • Prepare, draft, and collate papers for quarterly Group and Division risk meetings, challenging the information as necessary to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate training across the business, promoting a strong culture of risk awareness and knowledge.
  • Undertake root cause, gap analysis, and deep dives, providing insights to the business identifying areas of improvements or opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Experience in a risk-focused role in Financial Services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk frameworks, methodologies, and practices.
  • Relevant qualification or business partnering experience.
  • Effective at working autonomously and to tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
  • Insurance/Broking background.
  • Excellent communicator and influencer (verbal & written) with an eye for detail.
  • Analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint & Word).
  • Ability to commute to the Manchester office (1-2 days a week).
